AP English Language and Composition

This college-level course prepares students to analyze rhetorical contexts with an emphasis on American writers. Through close reading, discussion, collaboration, and independent practice, students will hone their abilities to develop, articulate, and defend interpretations of style and content. Students will write essays in response to literature and a variety of expository essays including an argumentative/persuasive essay, synthesis essay, and a rhetorical essay. The reading and writing demands of the course are rigorous and are designed to prepare students to take the Advanced Placement English Language and Composition test in May.
