AP 3D Art and Design

AP 3D Art and Design students do not take a written exam, but submit a portfolio of their work to be evaluated by the College Board at the end of the school year. The portfolios are scored on a six-point rubric scale. The course addresses the development of the artist's voice through technique, subject matter, and style as well as the ability to articulate that through writing. The structure of the portfolio is divided into two sections, Sustained Investigation where students will create artwork and writing to document their inquiry-guided investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision, and Selected Works that demonstrate skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas. This course is recommended for serious, self-directed art students, willing to produce a large volume of quality work.
