PrerequisiteFluency in Spanish and teacher recommendation. Students must have a reading and writing ability between 4-6 grades in Spanish. This course is not for students of Hispanic heritage who are monolingual in English.

Catalog description
This course is designed for native and heritage Spanish-speaking students to strengthen and develop their academic reading and writing skills in Spanish. The emphasis will be on grammatical structure, spelling, and correct usage of Standard Spanish. Skills will be refined through a variety of activities such as reading and discussing short stories, plays, and poems, letter writing and the writing of narrative, descriptive, and expository paragraphs. Students will read a variety of informational and fictional authentic texts. This course helps serve as a pathway to AP Spanish Language.
