Honors Chemistry in the Earth System

Similar to Chemistry in the Earth System, Honors Chemistry in the Earth System is a year-long, college preparatory, laboratory-based physical science course that teaches the properties of matter, its composition, and its changes as it relates to the Earth. This honors course places a heavier emphasis on mathematical analysis and higher-level thinking skills and covers topics in greater depth. This course is designed to introduce students to a wide variety of chemical principles, in preparation for more detailed technical courses in later years. Students investigate phenomena and issues of modern society using their chemical knowledge to propose solutions. In-class chemical demonstrations and laboratory exercises are used to emphasize scientific investigative techniques and science and engineering practices.
