EL Beginning-Grammar/Vocabulary/Reading

The instruction in this course will emphasize the development of foundational and advanced skills in vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, academic communication, and cultural proficiency. Students will engage with a variety of texts, including short stories, plays, excerpts, and articles spanning multiple content areas, to enrich vocabulary and enhance critical thinking. Writing instruction will progress from constructing clear, simple sentences and paragraphs to crafting more sophisticated and well-organized essays and projects by the second semester. Students will refine their writing through the use of visual organizers, outlines, and structured drafts. Oral communication skills will be developed through school- and academic-related discussions, collaborative projects, and formal presentations. Cultural proficiency and awareness will be integrated throughout the curriculum to foster global citizenship. This course is designed to provide a rigorous foundation in English language skills and is taken in conjunction with Course# 154015, EL Beginning.
