Chemistry in the Earth System

Chemistry in the Earth System is a year-long, college preparatory, laboratory-based physical science course. This course explores the foundations of chemistry and the chemical processes that drive the Earth system with a strong emphasis on environmental principles and concepts. Students will develop critical thinking skills and apply chemistry principles to investigate real-world phenomena. In addition to the chemistry and earth science disciplinary core ideas, this course also incorporates the Science and Engineering Practices and Crosscutting Concepts related to the Next Generation Science Standards. Student-centered laboratory activities will emphasize the process of inquiry and critical thinking. This course focuses on career and college readiness as it prepares students to be scientifically literate life-long learners.
